Preaching – You are assigned 15 minutes for your presentation. Please be aware that reading scripture and/or praying is included in your 15 minutes, unless done during your mentor’s introduction. Please prepare to stay within the 15-minute limit to avoid the time keeper from needing to end your sermon for you. You are welcome to preach for less than 15 minutes. See the Preaching Guide for a list of recommended (but not mandatory) scriptures for preparing your sermon.
Dress Code – You are free to dress however you deem appropriate; your clothing may reflect the ministry situation in which you are most likely to preach, whether liturgical robes or shorts and sandals. We simply ask that you dress modestly and don’t wear clothing with provocative or political text. Formal attire is normally worn at the Preachapalooza, and all other events are casual.
Mentor Introduction – Normally your mentor will give a short introduction before your sermon. However, if your mentor is not attending the Festival, you may prepare a short introduction on a notecard and have either the room convener or another person of your choice (preaching circle leader, peer, etc.) give your introduction. If you know that someone other than your mentor will give your introduction, please notify us before the festival by emailing email@example.com
