Today we received a wonderfully strong letter of endorsement and partnership from Christian Theological Seminary of Indianapolis. It was signed by President Edward Wheeler and Dean Carolyn Higginbotham. That brings the number to 19 (with our goal being 50 by April 1, 2010).
In the past week we have registered two more Young Preachers for the Festival of Young Preachers, to be held in January, 2010, in Louisville, Kentucky. Steven Harris is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a student at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville; he is a member of Consolidated Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. Thomas Gricosky is a brother of the St. Meinrad Archabbey and a student at the St. Meinrad Seminary. Both Steven and Thomas are members of the Young Preachers Leadership Team.
We received word from our marketing firm, Peritus that in the last five months, beginning January 14, articles about the launch of the Academy of Preachers have appeared in at least 64 media outlets, including print and on-line locations. This does not include denominational and institutional newsletters and web sites. If I knew how to handle the technology I would print the list; but my browser, Foxfire, doesn’t do, for some reason, “Cut and Paste” and that is about the extent of my cyber skills.
And finally: we have received invitations from five institutions to host a Preaching Camp next summer! We are reviewing our options and will decide what is in the best interests of the Academy and our Young Preachers.
