The Academy of Preachers is pleased to welcome two new bloggers to the website, Tommy Valentine and Heather Daugherty.
Tommy Valentine pastors the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville, Kentucky where he has served for over nine years. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky and a trustee at Campbellsville University. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Louisville and received both his M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
One of Tommy’s passions is ministry and leadership coaching, and he will be posting blogs on this topic. Having done his coach training through Valwood at the Hollifield Center in North Carolina, he will fulfill the certification process as a Valwood Certified Christian Leadership Coach early this spring. He will also serve as a coach at the Academy’s Summer Preaching Camp (June 1-7, 2009) in Louisville.
He is married to Jennifer and they have two children, David, 13, and Kate, 10, and a spoiled yellow lab named Casey. He enjoys spending time with his family, vacationing at Pawleys Island, playing golf and reading biographies and historical non-fiction works especially from the Revolutionary War and Civil War periods.
