Less than two weeks ago, our marketing firm Peritus led by our account representative Charissa Acree designed and launched an advertizing effort on Facebook. Today (Tuesday) she reported to me the following summary:

In the era of social media, the Academy of Preachers wants to reach young people where they are. Today, with more than 200 million users worldwide, Facebook is among the most widely used social networking tools available on the internet today.

  • The Academy of Preachers wanted to reach out to and connect with these young people in our region on Facebook. But we wanted to connect with people outside our immediate circle of friends and supporters. Our solution was Facebook advertising. Facebook advertising allows us to place the Academy of Preachers in front of a very targeted audience who might be interested in our mission.
  • Academy of Preachers advertising is designed for young people between the ages of 16 and 28 in Louisville, Lexington, Owensboro, Indianapolis, Nashville, and Cincinnati and any cities within a 50 mile radius of these hubs. Our ad has appeared on the Facebook page of those people who have listed “Faith, Bible, Christianity, Preaching or Ministry” among their Profile interests.
  • In less those nine days of advertising, we have made more than 289,000 impressions; which means that our Academy ad has appeared that many times on somebody’s Facebook page. As a result more than 200 people (who might otherwise have never heard of the Academy) have click on our ad and visited our Facebook page. The number of fans on our Facebook site has increased from 37 to 53.

Moving forward, we will continue to find the best ways to capture our audience and engage them in our work: Inspiring young people in their call to gospel ministry. Academy of Preachers is working to be an example of connecting the old with the new…bringing the message of Christ to a new generation of technology users.
