The Preaching Camp of 2009 is history and it is an understatement to say: it was an historic event. Twelve young preachers, three coaches, five presenters, and a half dozen guests, in a fabulous setting with mostly perfect weather, and most of all, the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The week was spiritual, ecumenical, humbling, transformational, and exhilarating. All involved are eager to help lead and attend one of the Preaching Camps of 2010.

During the week other good things happened. Two schools became Founding Partners: Vanderbilt Divinity School and Trevecca Nazarene University, both in Nashville. Two young preachers registered for the Festival in January: Christian Smith of Lexington, Kentucky, and Tanner White of Tampa, Florida.

News of the Academy keeps spreading: the newspaper article published three weeks ago in the Herald Leader was picked up by one of the wire services and printed in Columbus, Ohio, Kansas City, Missouri, and Sacramento, California (and perhaps elsewhere). The Western Recorder (weekly news journal of the Kentucky Baptist Convention) published a front page story complete with three pictures. And the local paper in Henryville, Indiana, not only did a pre-camp story: they sent a reporter to the camp who interviewed people and took pictures; they will publish a follow-up story on Wednesday, June 10.

The Board of Advisors had its first meeting on Friday afternoon. Both the Young Preachers Leadership Team and the Board of Advisors set another meeting date: Friday to Sunday, October 2-4, 2009.

And did I mention that two new donors sent checks totaling $850? And in the last ten days we have had 40 new Fans on our Facebook site!! Don’t forget to watch the videos on Facebook.

IT IS ALL GOOD.
